If that figure proves to be correct, then Smith will become the costliest purchase in the Welsh club’s history by quite some distance. Said record was broken on two occasions during the summer of 2024 by Ollie Rathbone and Mo Faal – with the latter acquired for a reported £590,000 fee.
Wrexham are now moving into seven figures, but Hollywood co-owners have been able to raise funds through the issue of another share. It has been revealed that an investor has injected £3m ($3.7m) into the club, which will help to fund further projects on and off the field.
Phil Parkinson has been eager to bring more firepower onto his books despite already having Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer, Jack Marriott, Steven Fletcher and record signing Faal at his disposal. Wrexham are currently sat third in the League One table, with just one point being taken from their last three fixtures.
